Native Seed Network

Resources

The National Seed Strategy for Rehabilitation and Restoration provides a framework for agencies and organizations working to improve the supply of native seed, and contains dozens of action items organized within four major goals:

  1. Identify seed needs, and ensure the reliable availability of genetically appropriate seed
  2. Identify research needs and conduct research to provide genetically appropriate seed and to improve technology for native seed production and ecosystem restoration
  3. Develop tools the enable managers to make timely, informed seeding decisions for ecological restoration
  4. Develop strategies for internal and external communication

The Seed Selection Tools are a product of years of collaboration among ecologists, land managers, and restoration professionals. It is our hope that these tools will support the use of more climate-adapted native plants in restoration projects.
