To reduce the cost barrier of attending a conference, we offer a discounted rate option. These opportunities are provided on the honor system and could include underrepresented groups, students, non-profit staff, or small native seed producers.

Registration Assistance

The National Native Seed Conference is committed to advancing the science and practice of native seed and native plant production and use in restoration and conservation. The conference achieves this, in part, by building and supporting a networked community of people working with native seed, native plants, ecological restoration, conservation, and related fields. The NNSC will offer complimentary registration to selected applicants to offset conference attendance costs.

Registration assistance is available to help reduce financial barriers to conference participation faced by some individuals or communities.  Assistance is designed to support a conference community that reflects the breadth of people, perspectives, experiences, and knowledge systems that are important to the future of native seed.

Applications are due by November 30, 2026. Decisions will be sent out in early December.

Who is encouraged to apply?

We welcome applications from anyone for whom financial assistance would make participation in the National Native Seed Conference more accessible.

We especially encourage applications from:

  • Members of Tribal communities and indigenous organizations;
  • Students and early-career professionals;
  • Community-based practitioners, land stewards, and knowledge holders;
  • Individuals from communities or regions that have been typically less likely to participate in the native seed and restoration community;
  • Individuals whose organizations or employers have limited resources available for professional development or conference travel; and
  • Others who face financial or other barriers to participating in the conference.

You do not need to hold a particular job title, work for a specific type of organization, or have extensive experience in native seed to apply. We recognize that people come to this field through many different pathways.

What will be considered?

Scholarship decisions will consider the overall goals of the scholarship program, including:

Access: How would financial assistance affect your ability to attend the conference?

Connection: How does your work, education, community, or interest connect to native seed, native plants, restoration, conservation, stewardship, or related fields?

Perspective and representation: What perspectives, experiences, knowledge, or communities do you bring to the native seed community?

Potential benefit: How might attending the conference benefit you, your community, organization, or future work?

Contribution: What do you hope to learn, share, or contribute through participating in the conference?

Financial need is an important consideration, but applicants do not need to demonstrate a specific level of financial hardship to apply.

Applications are due by November 30, 2026. Decisions will be sent out in early December.
