Old Peak Meadow Oxeye Daisy Weed Pull

June 1, 2024 @ 9:00 am 2:00 pm

Please join the Institute for Applied Ecology (IAE) at the Old Peak meadow in the Marys Peak Watershed for an early summer oxeye daisy pull. This is a great opportunity to see one of Oregon’s hidden treasures, meet new friends, and help preserve a truly unique ecosystem. Meadows such as Old Peak are continually threatened by invasive non-native species. Removing these species is critical for the preservation and maintenance of this special place.

  • When: Saturday, June 1, 2024 between 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
  • Where: Old Peak Meadow in Marys Peak Watershed (about 45 minutes from Corvallis)
  • Work to be completed: Hand pulling oxeye daisy from the meadow
  • What to bring: Full lunch, water, closed toed shoes, jacket and preferably long rain pants. Old Peak can get windy and might still have cold morning fog. All volunteers (or parent/guardian if the volunteer is a minor) must fill out IAE’s volunteer release form.

No special skills are required for this work, just good attitudes and smiles! IAE will provide gloves (but you may want to bring your own gloves to ensure you have some that fit). Work will be completed on summit meadows and occasional steep slopes and there will be lots of walking. Bring your own vehicle or ride with us.

If you are interested in volunteering (large and small groups are welcome to join) and have questions about this opportunity, please contact Evan Lasley at [email protected]. Please make sure to RSVP so we can be certain to bring sufficient gloves for the day.
