I volunteer to assist Institute for Applied Ecology, a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the state of Oregon (“IAE”). I volunteer my time and services because of my support for IAE and my desire to participate actively in the furtherance of its work. I understand that my activities as a volunteer entail a risk of physical injury or death and that I may be exposed to hazards arising from vehicular travel over both improved and primitive roads, pedestrian travel over rough terrain, use of tools and equipment by me and others, strenuous manual labor, working near other volunteers or IAE staff, natural hazards (such as wind, rain, snow, fire, earth movement, flood) and exposure to same. IAE has explained the particular types of activities that I may engage in, and I understand the risks associated therewith. If at some time I am asked to engage in any particular activity that I am not familiar with, I will inform IAE of that fact and inquire about what risks I may be exposed to prior to beginning my volunteer work. I further understand that accidents or injuries may occur in locations or under circumstances where medical attention is not readily available. I expressly assume all risks associated with or arising from my volunteer activities. Because the assertion of claims against IAE for personal injury occurring during my volunteer service would be contrary to my support of IAE and its goals and would reduce the ability of IAE to accomplish its charitable purposes, I grant this release.I agree to abide by all rules and regulations of Institute for Applied Ecology regarding safety and use of all equipment. On behalf of myself, my estate and the personal representative thereof, my heirs and assigns, I hereby forever release IAE, its officers, directors, employees and agents or cooperating landowners, from any and all costs, claims, losses, liabilities or damages arising from or in any way related to, my service as a volunteer. I intend this release to be effective, regardless of whether the claim of liability is asserted in negligence, strict liability in tort, or other theory of recovery. For myself, my estate and the personal representative thereof, my heirs and assigns, I agree to make no claim, nor to institute any suit, action or proceeding against IAE, its officers, directors, employees and agents or cooperating landowners, relating to any accident, incident or occurrence arising out of, or in connection with, my volunteer activities.By signing this release, I also consent to and authorize the marketing, media, and publicity use by IAE of any video, photographs or audio taken of me while engaged in volunteer activities for IAE as described above, in the exercise of IAE’S sole discretion.By checking this box, I agree that this form may be electronically signed, and that my e-signature holds the same validity, enforceability, and admissibility as my handwritten signature.
