Svea Bruslind is an Ecological Education Coordinator at the Institute for Applied Ecology. She is working on the Park-ify Your Yard project, which is focused on partnering with communities to increase native plants in home landscapes. She assists with the Sagebrush in Prisons Project, collaborating with prisons and adults in custody across Oregon to grow sagebrush for habitat restoration. She also delivers ecology lessons in juvenile detention facilities.
Svea earned her H.B.S at Oregon State University, majoring in Zoology with a minor in Photography. While at Oregon State she discovered a passion for intermixing art and science, and further developed her longstanding interest in science communication. Before joining IAE, Svea worked in STEAM outreach and education, delivering STEAM lessons to K-12 students in rural areas of Oregon.
When not at work, Svea enjoys reading Agatha Christie novels, hiking, and chasing bees.
