Mara is the Farm Manager for IAE’s Plant Materials Program. She graduated from Colorado State University with a BS in Horticulture with an emphasis on nursery and landscape management. Prior to joining IAE, she worked in plant breeding for the ‘Big-Ag’ industry, as a research assistant in the horticulture department at OSU, and as a horticulturist for the Corvallis Plant Materials Center. In the latter position, she grew and harvested plants that are native to the Pacific Northwest. She also participated in pollinator planting studies in conjunction with the Xerces Society, observing how pollinators interact with different planting mixes.

Mara loves spending time out in nature, especially paddling around in her homemade canoe. She loves foraging for mushrooms, collecting broken things and making them into art, snuggling with her doggos, working in her gardens and collecting tattoos.
