Carolyn has been with IAE since 2003. She received her B.S. in Plant Biology from the University of California, Davis, and her M.S. in Botany and Plant Pathology from Oregon State University. Carolyn oversees IAE’s operations and also coordinates the annual range wide surveys for Fender’s blue butterfly, implements vegetation surveys and mapping in Oregon’s conservation areas, and works with local and regional partners to develop technical documents such as the Willamette Valley Oak and Prairie Cooperative’s Strategic Action Plan and Habitat Conservation Plans (HCPs) for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Carolyn has also taught biology at Western Oregon University and worked as a field biologist in various locales, including the North Cascades, the Klamath Mountains, the Sierra Nevada, and New South Wales.

When not at IAE, Carolyn likes to ski, hike and camp with her husband and two kids, and she also enjoys perfecting the landscape of her backyard and trail running.
