Cam Oster

Restoration Ecologist

Cam is a project manager within the Habitat Restoration Program; they oversee restoration actions at various sites with public and private partners and landowners. While generally focused on prairie and savanna ecosystems, restoration projects also include ash forests and western pond turtle habitat. In particular, their work emphasizes establishment and stewardship of populations of sensitive, threatened, and endangered species such as Kincaid’s lupine, wayside aster, and thin-leaved peavine.

Cam received a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the University of Missouri (go Tigers!) with an emphasis in ecology and evolution. Prior to working at IAE, they worked in habitat restoration contracting based out of the Portland area restoring forests, grasslands, wetlands, and riparian systems across the PNW. Additionally, Cam worked for several years as a researcher with the University of Missouri studying plant ecology, pollination ecology, and evolutionary genomics.

When not killing weeds and planting native plants, Cam enjoys ceramics, sewing, and backpacking.
