Annie Lamas is an Ecological Education Coordinator with IAE, managing the Taylor’s Checkerspot Butterfly captive rearing lab and the narrowleaf plantain growing yard at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, as well as assisting with various programmatic aspects of the Sagebrush in Prisons Project. Her position aims to bring science and nature education opportunities to adults in custody (AIC) as well as to incarcerated youth. Her background is largely in habitat restoration, which began at an experimental forest in the western Sierras of California, transitioned to prescribed burning and invasive species management in the San Luis Obispo Coast District with California State Parks, and moved her to Oregon as a seasonal technician with IAE surveying prairie-oak ecosystems throughout the Willamette Valley. Annie earned her B.S. in Environmental Management and Protection from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Since moving to Oregon, Annie and her partner enjoy birding, camping, hiking to new places in and outside of town, and finding incredible deals on used furniture at thrift stores.
