Meredith Prentice
Plant Conservation & Restoration Program Botanist
As the PCRP Botanist, I support the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Plant Conservation and Restoration Program in New Mexico. In this role, I coordinate BLM’s Seeds of Success collection efforts in New Mexico and help lead native plant material production and restoration projects.
My love for botany solidified during my time as an undergraduate at Northern Arizona University, where I spent my summers working in the ponderosa pine forests of the region. Since then, I have had the immense privilege of supporting restoration research and plant conservation projects across Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. In 2026, I received a MS in Biology from the University of Colorado Denver. For my masters, I was a graduate student in a collaborative program between CUDenver and the Denver Botanic Gardens. I love being a botanist in the Southwest due to the variety of ecosystems I get to work in. I am particularly fascinated and inspired by Southwestern plant species and communities due to their resiliency and ability to persist in harsh ecological conditions.
