Tyler is an Ecologist with IAE Southwest. She manages a variety of projects encompassing restoration, rare plant and animal conservation, and native plant materials development and loves contributing to the health of southwestern lands and people. She received her B.A. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2016. After her undergraduate studies she was involved in varied research projects regarding restoration of biological soil crust and long term vegetation monitoring in the Great Basin and Colorado Plateau. This work ignited her fondness for the unique arid and semi-arid ecosystems of the southwest. After subsequently spending a year exploring Alaska, she returned to the lower 48 to complete her M.S. studying rangeland restoration ecology at New Mexico State University. Her master’s research investigated the relationship between seed movement and landscape connectivity over a shrub encroachment gradient in the Chihuahuan Desert using restoration structures called connectivity modifiers (aka ConMods). To Tyler, the most wonderful thing about seeds is that they represent potential from the scale of individual plants to entire ecosystems. In her free time she enjoys exploring new places, taking in live music, making art, nerding out about fungi, and cooking.
