Michel is from an invasive plant ecology and Extension background, and brings her passion for science writing and outreach to IAE as the Communications and Fundraising Coordinator. She coordinates event publicity, social media, fundraising, blogs and newsletters to engage followers of IAE’s work. Before IAE, Michel worked for nonprofit outreach, was an instructor in LBCC’s Horticulture Department, and a research associate with WSU Small Farms Program and Center for Sustaining Ag and Natural Resources, investigating organic orchard understory management techniques. She received her M.S. from Montana State University, studying the affects of nutrient management and herbivory on spotted knapweed populations. She has a BA in Biology (Botany specialization) and Environmental Conservation from University of Colorado at Boulder. She loves music, gardening, hiking and boating with her family in the diverse Pacific Northwest outdoors.
