Jackson Meadow Restoration Tour

October 18, 2025 @ 11:00 am 1:00 pm PDT

Join the Institute for Applied Ecology (IAE) for a tour of Jackson Meadow this fall! Jackson Meadow is a 27-acre site with remnant oak and prairie habitat in Oregon State University’s McDonald-Dunn Research Forest in Corvallis. Over the past century, these habitats have been degraded by conifer encroachment and invasive species. In 2022, Oregon State University carried out a timber harvest at Jackson Meadow to release oaks from conifer competition and launch an oak–prairie restoration project in partnership with the Institute for Applied Ecology. Since 2023, restoration efforts have focused on removing invasive vegetation, and this fall we will take the exciting next step: sowing native seed.

On this tour, you’ll see how IAE and Oregon State University are bringing back vital oak and prairie habitats at Jackson Meadow to support a diverse array of native plants and wildlife!
