Keith Norris is the Executive Director for the Institute for Applied Ecology, where he provides strategic leadership to advance the organization’s conservation mission. Prior to joining IAE, Keith was the Director of Policy and Communications at The Wildlife Society, an international organization focused on serving conservation professionals and students. His career has included positions in ecological research, education, policy advocacy, leadership development, and program administration.
Keith holds a B.S. degree in Wildlife Ecology from Purdue University, a M.A. degree in Public Policy & Management from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs, and a M.S. degree in Environment & Natural Resources – Wildlife and Fisheries at The Ohio State University. His M.S. research focused on shorebird migration ecology, evaluating assumptions of a bioenergetics model to guide regional habitat conservation strategies. Keith was certified as an Associate Wildlife Biologist® and is an alumnus of the National Conservation Leadership Institute. He currently lives in Salem, Oregon, with his wife—who also works in conservation—and two sons.
