Emily is the Plant Materials Field Technician for the Habitat Restoration Program at IAE. She assists in the propagation, cultivation and collection of native plant materials for the use in restoration projects in the Willamette Valley and surrounding areas. Her involvement in these projects helps support rare ecosystems, plants and wildlife.
A proud native Oregonian, Emily has always enjoyed the outdoors and developed a fondness for Botany and Natural Resources early on. In High School, she spent many after school hours identifying edible plants in the neighborhood forests, drawing botanical specimens, and teaching people about botany. She received a B.S. in Natural Resource Management and a minor in Forest Management (2010) from Oregon State University.
When she is not at IAE, Emily spends most of her time with friends in the great outdoors hiking, wild crafting, floating the river and rock climbing. She also loves to cook, enjoys playing music, watching movies and most importantly weaving baskets from willow that she’s wild crafted from all over Oregon.
