Lani is a Conservation Technician with the Southwest Office. She is responsible for seed cleaning and processing and is the crew lead for the River for Monarchs seed collection project, in addition to assisting with herbarium management, developing seed cleaning protocols, and helping with other restoration projects. Lani received a Bachelors in Science in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from Rice University with minors in Environmental Science and Anthropology. Since graduating she has worked for the USDA Agricultural Research Service and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center before joining IAE in 2023. She has done field work across the United States and has worked in plant restoration, landscape biogeochemistry, population ecology, and entomology.

In her free time she enjoys reading, art, and chasing after cool insects.
