Emily is a Restoration Ecologist at IAE’s Southwest Office. She is the project manager for the River for Monarchs project, along with supporting additional plant and pollinator projects in New Mexico and the Southwest. She grew up in Wyoming and has lived and traveled throughout most Western US states, founding a deep appreciation for the diversity of ecosystems and relationships within. She received a B.S. in biology and B.A. in chemistry at Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado and an M.A. in plant biology from the University of Texas in Austin, TX. Her graduate work on plant defenses and plant-insect relationships focused on the coevolution of Passiflora and the Heliconius butterfly. She has a diverse work background with landscaping, research-based greenhouse/nursery management, large-scale greenhouse oversight at botanic gardens, and SW rare plant seed banking all leading to a deep love of plants and their ecological roles.

In her free time, she loves cycling in all its forms, being outside as much as possible, baking, and cuddling with pets.
