Julia is a Restoration Ecologist with IAE’s Habitat Restoration Program. She received an M.S. degree in Applied Watershed Science from California State University Monterey Bay, and completed her undergraduate degrees in Art and Biology at Westmont College. She specializes in plant identification, rare plant and wetland monitoring, GIS analysis, and report writing. Before joining IAE, she worked in a variety of capacities in the restoration world, including monitoring the effects of forest thinning treatments in the Sierra Nevada with the US Forest Service, propagating native plants as assistant manager at a native plant nursery, and conducting habitat restoration in coastal bluff, maritime chaparral, and coastal scrub habitats for public and private entities in California. When Julia is not restoring native habitats for IAE, she enjoys learning about medicinal plants, sewing, and backpacking with her husband.
