Marys River Natural Area, City of Corvallis Parks

Advanced Botany students at PHS have spent this year designing and implementing experiments to determine the most effective way to root native shrubs from hardwood cuttings. They are testing the effects of factors including rooting hormones, bench heat pads, and number of nodes buried. Once the students complete their experiments, the shrubs will be planted at the Marys River restoration site. Their findings can be used by others to help propagate native shrubs with more success.
