Inmates at ISCC fill conetainers with soil

  • ISCC is the largest prison in Idaho, housing maximum, medium, and minimum custody male offenders.
  • It is located at Kuna, Idaho, near Boise.
  • A team of 2 – 40 inmates in the medium security facility work on seed sowing and day to day care of the plants. These inmates will not be able to plant the sagebrush as they are medium security and are not allowed to go outside the facility grounds. Minimum security inmates at Idaho State Correctional Institution and BLM staff will plant the plants in November, 2015.
  • ISCC is currently growing a total of 60,000 sagebrush.
  • Institute for Applied Ecology is working with Boise BLM field office and will plant the sagebrush in November 2015 on BLM land east of Boise.
