OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE WITH CHELDELIN MIDDLE SCHOOL

by Michelle Allen — last modified Sep 04, 2013

Institute for Applied Ecology is assisting with Cheldelin Middle School’s Outdoor Experience this fall.

We would like to invite you to join us at Jackson Frazier Wetland working with these students one morning if you are interested – we would love to work with you!

The dates are Sept. 16,17,18th and will be from about 8:30 – 12:30 at Jackson Frazier Wetland.

Volunteers can help lead a hand with a 40 minute station with about 10 students. We will have two volunteers per station. A volunteer can choose from any of these options:

a. Assist with a native animal lesson.

b. Assist with a native plant lesson

c. Assist with a bird lesson (hand around bird study skins and then students do an art activity)

d. Assist with a drawing and journaling lesson (students draw landscape, and close up observations, write poem or observations in journal)

e. Ethnobotany – assist with students making a Native American basket

We will provide training the morning that you volunteer.
