Wetland Restoration Tour in Kings Valley June 26
Learn habitat restoration techniques and see and learn about the threatened plant species, Nelson’s checkermallow.
Bridgeport Farms and Gardens, nestled in Kings Valley OR, is home to a thriving 60 acre wetland and native prairie complex. The site has been restored without the use of herbicides, in keeping with the organic food produced and sold at the farm, and hosts a diversity of wildlife and plants, including the beautiful threatened species Nelson’s checkermallow.
Learn about habitat restoration techniques and Nelson’s checkermallow biology and recovery. Our nature walks are slow-paced and casually structured. A hat, long pants, and closed-toe shoes are recommended. Healthy snacks, cold drinks, and water are available at the farm store, as well as a shaded place to enjoy them. Please, no dogs. We go rain or shine. Meet at the farm store located at the NW corner of Kings Valley Hwy (Hwy 223) and Bridgeport Rd/Monmouth Hwy just 7 miles south of Dallas and west of Monmouth (16385 Bridgeport Rd., Dallas).
Hosted by the Institute for Applied Ecology, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Jerry and Jo Dhooghe (owners Bridgeport Farms and Garden). RSVP appreciated, but not required.
