This workshop will cover the status of western Oregon' s rare
grassland bird species, their habitat, and practical information
regarding land management. A morning session will cover detailed
information about western meadowlark, Oregon vesper sparrow, and
streaked homed lark (with mention of shorteared owl, grasshopper
sparrow, and northern harrier). The afternoon will be spent at Finley
National Wildlife Refuge to see birds in the field and demonstrate
habitat management practices. Participants will have opportunities to
share their experiences and contribute ideas towards a more
collaborative and regional approach to bird conservation.

Overheard

"Volunteers are the backbone, heart, and soul of the restoration movement. And whatever the eventual results of their labors may be, working to revive damaged ecosystems is transforming and strengthening their relationship with the rest of nature."

-William K. Stevens, Miracle Under the Oaks
