Ecological Education Volunteer Opportunity!!
Here is a fantastic volunteer opportunity that is loads of fun!!!
I hope you are all having a great summer! The Institute for Applied Ecology and Finley Wildlife Refuge are preparing the Refuge to host approximately 250 sixth grade students from the Corvallis School District on Sept. 15, 16, 19, and 20. Doesn't that sound like fun???
We are looking for some great volunteers to help us out! If you can commit to even just a few hours, it would be a great help to us and the students!!!
Full day is from 10 - 2:45 or half day either 10 - 12 or 12:30 to 2:45
You and probably another volunteer will work with approximately 15 students. We have 3 possible stations:
1. Walk on Homer Campbell trail and have them do drawings of the landscape, lichen and an aquatic invertebrate.2. Bird station:
Show students sample bird nests and have students build their own nest.
3. Walk on Woodpecker loop:Have students do tree activity, and predator prey activity. We may see a prescribed burn going on.
We will provide training and all materials needed for the programs. By the way, don't the activities sound like fun? Have you ever built a gigantic bird nest before???
Just let me know if you might be interested and I will put you on the schedule.
Cheers,
