ODOT and partners receive “Exemplary Ecosystem Initiative” awards for two projects in Oregon

The Federal Highways Administration has awarded the Oregon Department of Transportation and its partners “Exemplary Ecosystem Initiative” awards for the Oregon 18: Fort Hill to Wallace Bridge Project (for preserving the endangered Nelson’s checkermallow plant) and the ODOT Strategy for Migratory Bird Management and Conservation Program (a strategy to minimize the effects of transportation projects on migratory birds and nesting areas). In April, the partners who worked on the projects gathered to celebrate, and FHWA officially presented the awards.
