Matt joined IAE’s habitat restoration team as a restoration ecologist in March 2015. Previously he worked for 4 years as a land steward for a state-wide land trust in Michigan, where he managed a wide variety of restoration projects benefiting state and federally-listed species in prairie fen, dry sand prairie, and other rare natural communities.
He served for 3 years in Ukraine as a Peace Corps Volunteer and received a M.S. in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from the University of Maryland in 2006.
Matt lives in Salem with his wife, Anne, who received her PhD in evolutionary biology from Michigan State University, and his young son Toby. When not playing with his son, Matt enjoys playing the piano, ice hockey, and birding and botanizing.
