Each year IAE relies on seasonal staff and interns to support our Conservation Research and Habitat Restoration programs during the busy spring and summer months.
Habitat Restoration has a rare plant monitoring crew that conducts surveys of rare plants and nectar resources for threatened and endangered butterfly species. A seed collection crew collects for high priority restoration species, rare species, and for long-term conservation storage.
In cooperation with the Native Plant Society of Oregon, the Conservation Research department offers 12-16 week internships in order to provide field experience to individuals considering restoration ecology or conservation biology as a career. In addition, each year Conservation Research and Habitat Restoration both offer a 10 week internship to a high school student through the Saturday Academy for Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering.
