Jess Bunnell

Jess

Jessica is an AmeriCorps member serving as the outreach coordinator for the Ecological Education program.  This is her second AmeriCorps term.  She completed her first term after graduating from Penn State in 2006, when she worked for a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit as an education coordinator, educating students and community members about the local impacts of invasive plants and the importance of native ecosystems.  At IAE she is working with the RARE Partnership and assisting with our Native Plant Curriculum.  She is excited to continue working with youth to help them develop an appreciation for the world around them and a sense of place in the Willamette Valley, as well work on the final stages of the Native Plants Curriculum to help  appreciation and knowledge of native plants statewide.

Overheard

"Volunteers are the backbone, heart, and soul of the restoration movement. And whatever the eventual results of their labors may be, working to revive damaged ecosystems is transforming and strengthening their relationship with the rest of nature."

-William K. Stevens, Miracle Under the Oaks
